The Excellent Education and its essence

The Education that enables a child to learn unlearn and relearn is the excellent education. By unlearning I mean ability to throw out the garbage that child gathers from one's surroundings. The surrounding has the biggest impact on the child'd mind, so it has to be improved as much as possible. Before working on the education of child we need to work on its surroundings. What difference it would make if a child spends just 5 hours in school and 19 hours in the surrounding that fills in garbage. The surroundings has to be improved, excellent education will be just an obvious outcome. 50% of a child's development is done in first 7 years and 90% in the first 20 years.
This shows how important it is to impart good education in the formative years of a child.
Of course, being part of so called privileged class of society, we take education for granted. As, our child would get it anyway because we can afford it. But what about the children in slums? aren't they require education? yes they do. Because they are children of same god as we are. The difference is that we just got lucky being born in a well to do family. It is our responsibility to bring education equity. So that every child get requisite education to live a happy life.
Why excellent education is so essential?
Just imagine, if everybody get excellent education. How our society would look like? A HEAVEN. because there would be no one hungry or deprived or poor. And the prosperity would lead to ultimate peace in the society. there would be no crime, no robbery, no rapes, no communal riots JUST SHEER HAPPINESS.

If we want to achieve the lost glory of India, if we want India to be called "JAGAT GURU" as it use to be called, if we want that our future generation to live in a educated peaceful environment. Where everybody
would talk about development and creativity, Innovation and creation. Then we need a great transformation and this could be brought only through EDUCATION. This kind of India is only possible if we create an environment of excellent education, the education which helps to clean the surrounding  and make it a heaven to live. Where every child has right to get not only the education but EXCELLENT EDUCATION.

Child Centric Education

Our current education system is Teacher centric which means that the teacher is solely responsible for the completion of course and there is only one way transaction of thoughts i.e. teachers to students and this creates an infinite distance between them. No matter how hard school management tries to cope up with this separation but it keeps on increasing. In recent years, smart classes have been introduced in the schools to increase the involvement of students and create interest wherein concepts are being taught with the aid of audio/visuals but apparently it doesn't seems to be promising as after a certain duration even the audio visuals gets monotonous narration of concepts, moreover students as well as teachers feel detached.

The need of hour is to devise a curriculum which is child centric wherein a child feel attached with teachers, audio/visual aids and other equipment being used. The curriculum should be in accordance to the child’s interest. A perfect combination of child’s interest, audio/visual aids, interactive activities etc.

MESF program is an interactive activity workshop especially designed for classes VI to X. That aims to nurture Activity Centric Education in young minds by practical implementation of concept being taught in traditional class rooms with the aid of exclusively designed child centric curriculum.

MESF is an initiative by young and enthusiastic engineers to bring complete transformation in the present education system from rote learning to fun to learn process with implementation of child centric curriculum. MESF is a setup in association with non profit organization PLANET YUVA.

MESF targets in development of child centric curriculum with the help of children. It will solely depend on students how and what they want to learn. Since most of the learning process is done in formative years of child so MESF workshops are exclusively designed for students for VI TO X, So that the formative years of child become solid base for future. Every child has a gifted mind having a particular quotient, creative, innovative, academic etc. the need is to explore that part of child and MESF helps in achieving the same.

MESF doesn't provide full time classes but tries to give the practical implementation of concepts being taught in classrooms in the form of workshops. The motto is to blend the current educational system with creativity, innovation and live realization of concepts instead of rote learning with the aid of activities and audio visuals.

Are we bringing up children or pressure cookers?

A bell rings at 5:30 am in morning, a man enters in house and they start studying. They continue studying till 6:30 am and then he gets ready to go school because in another half an hour the school bus would be at his door steps. He rushes and eats breakfast swiftly and boards on the bus.He then spends 5 hours at school and return back at 1 pm, changes his school dress and just after lunch leaves again for tuition and returns at 6 p.m. with heavy workload of school work + tution work.So without resting he start with school work and ends up with tution work. In the meantime, parents instructs him several time to study well and do his best to secure first rank in the class so that they could stand high in society. They never leave chance to make him realize how costly education has become these days and he is fortunate enough to get such sacrificing parents. The child sleeps silently at 11 p.m. if not too late just to wake up on time the next day.

This is a life style of a child of just 10 years, is he a child or machine? well some would say this is 21st century and to be in the race one needs to be smart enough to do multiple things at a time and be the first. Unfortunately, everybody couldn't be at number one. Each one has its own limitation as well as excellence field. If a child isn't good at academics that doesn't mean he is of no good. Possibly he might be good at other activities one just need to explore that potential.

Unfortunately, This isn't case with most of the parents and they just want their child to be the best and in this rat race they are killing their childhood . People use to be successful in past as well when there was no such stick behind them. What was the reason? the reason wasn't endless cramming but they had interest in their studies. They weren't forced to study or to sing or to dance, they themselve chose it . They just did what they loved to and excelled. History is full of such examples  Thomos Edison, Albert Einstein, Graham Bell  just to name a few.

The question arises how to create interest in education amongst children. The most promising solution is by Making Education Student Friendly and to do so concrete steps should be taken by impelmeting innovative ways of teaching by going beyond four walls. A child loves to play and if we get successful in blending education with games it will become a fun to learn process and children will enjoy studying and would do best in their life.Lets not make their life a pressure cooker.

Need of making education student friendly

In today's education era of endless competition and mindless cramming of facts, the obvious questions that arises is how we are going to deal with the disappointing consequences of marks driven education instead of thought driven education. Today's parents are more concerned about marks and class ranks instead of child's overall development. As far as teachers are concerned even they have tendency to judge a child on it's academic performance. But nobody cares what a child wants for himselfwhat does he want to becomewhat are his ambitionsdoes he likes studies or playing games or singing song? when he is being taught in class does he really wants to study or studies seem to be boring or burden for him. If teachers take initiative to make it interesting or to make it a fun to learn process.

No doubt just playing games or singing song or doing some other activities would suffice his future needs. Definitely he needs to study as well but that doesn't mean he should be halted from doing other activities. If we do so then the child starts loosing interest not only in his studies but also his beloved hobbies and his mind gets diverted towards wrong direction.

The obvious question that comes into one's mind is how to deal with this situation because one can't allow one's child to make his hobby as career; knowing to that fact that a child's hobby may change with span of time and if that happens his future would be ruined. The only solution could be Making  Education Student Friendly. This could be done by blending the current education system with the approach we would discuss in our future posts. The motive is to align the current curriculum with new curriculum based on child centric approach.

Making Eductation Student Friendly

when a young couple start their nuclear life. Amongst others, The most obvious challenge which present and future generation parents faces is the effective engagement of children towards education and their character  development. A 1st class student starts going for tuition not because he isn't able to comprehend what is being taught in school but because he doesn't have willingness to repeat it after coming at home. They always need stick behind them to study. But just think about it, if the child somehow crams the facts and vomit the stuff at the exam. does the purpose solves? certainly not.
Lets have a deeper insight about our current education system. Our current education system is Teacher centric which means that the teacher is solely responsible for the completion of course and there is only one way transaction of thoughts i.e. teachers to students and this creates an infinite distance between them. No matter how hard school management tries to cope up with but the separation it keeps on increasing.

A child of 7 years could remember names of all the cartoon characters he watches, though they are difficult to remember even for grown ups, but when it comes to the scientific/nonscientific terminology their memory gives up.

What could be the possible reason?
Interest, the only thing that matters for the proper engagement of children. Our current education system is nothing but a burden for them.

The need of hour is to devise a curriculum which is child centric wherein a child feel attached with teachers, audio/visual aids and other equipment being used. The curriculum should be in accordance to the child’s interest. A perfect combination of child’s interest, audio/visual aids, interactive activities etc. A curriculum made to the children for the children by the children. a curriculum which allows children to think and apply concepts instead  of rote learning.
If we would be develop such curriculum time is not far off when children would be too happy to go schools and will become better citizen of country.
